A project by three nurses from Oklahoma designed to give free school supplies to needy elementary schools in the Philippines. Their way of giving back to the community and inspiring young minds to dedicate themselves in finishing their education.

The purpose of Kids Start Up Program, is to give school supplies to selected public elementary school in the Bicol and Pangasinan provinces. This is a brain child of Jojette Daquiera, who got the inspiration when her cousin, a teacher, shared her frustration about the lack of supplies of her students. Her cousin said that due to poverty these kid’s school supplies are not a priority, daily food is. She teaches across the lake, where income is very minimal, and would usually depend on the agricultural produce sold or fish harvested. These income are very variable and would usually come and go depending on the climate. What little income the family has is spent on food. Kids would go to school with less than the bare necessities, most of the times with nothing. She visited her school and she have seen barefooted kids inside the school room trying to learn the lessons without pencils, notebooks or papers. Hence, the Kids Start Up Program started. Together with two of her friends Roselle Ramos and Mary Jane Mendoza they set the wheels in motion. They donated money,  bought basic school supplies and gave it to the selected elementary school. Every year they select an elementary school where they give out school supplies.
